After this book I need to lay off war for a while.

i have to say these past two weeks have become so mentally draining due to constantly reading and thinking about war. I don’t know how presidents/ prime ministers sleep. They have a hard job and I completely understand now what we are trying to defeat “terrorism” and I have to say we don’t see much light on the Middel east wanting to be like the western world but we are pirates and we will take and fight until we’ve wrecked and drained the place and that’s what’s happening now and these extremist groups will keep poping up until there isn’t a race living there anymore, but in the meantime they have started groups all over Europe and America to fight for sharia law.

There are people on this word whose only purpose is to spread death and destruction. We call them ‘bad people’. But were they like that when they were born? No. It’s the environment/religion/ideology which makes people become monsters.

I would recommend David Niven’s The Moon’s A Balloon or Jasper Carrott’s Sweet And Sour Labrador, both being light reading by way of a contrast.

I would draw your attention to page 56 of the UK edition of David Niven’s book, which refers to Errol Flynn and Michael Curtiz during the filming of The Charge of the Light Brigade (1936)! If you cannot beg, borrow or buy a copy of The Moon’s a Balloon, David Niven refers to the incident when he was a guest on the Michael Parkinson Show which you might find on Youtube. However, read the book first, if at all possible!

I failed to write that I was referring to page 56 of Niven’s second book, Bring On The Empty Horses which is also a good read and to which he made reference in an interview with Parky.
